‘Ightham Mote is a small, delightful, moated manor house with wonderful gardens,’ says visitor Michael.

The gardens certainly are full of wonder. Children can follow our magical map to uncover their secrets. From the curly wurly tree, to the goblin’s grotto and the fairy glen, there’s a lot to explore.

The house at Ightham Mote is unusual too. Built nearly 700 years ago and surrounded by a moat, it was once owned by medieval knights.

Don’t miss our family events, which we hold through the year.

The house at Ightham Mote is reflected in the moat from the south west, showing the stone tower and mock Tudor facade on the south face.
