Christmas in our café
This article was about Christmas at Hinton Ampner in 2017. We’ll be updating this with 2018 information later in the year. As winter descends, our café is the perfect place to relax and satisfy your taste buds during your visit to Hinton Ampner. With Brothers Grimm decorations taking over the café this Christmas, be sure to grab some tasty treats - before Red Riding Hood’s wolf does.
Indulge in our festive menu with winter soup followed by topside of beef with all the trimmings. This homemade meal is available every day in the lead up to Christmas, no need to book, just ask the café team about our festive treats when you visit. The café opens from 10am daily and serves hot food until 2.30pm.
All the beef we serve is from our local Coopers Foods based in Andover, Hampshire. We cook Dawn Meadow Gold Beef which is 28 day aged meat from carefully selected Steer Cattle and is matured longer on the bone giving a high level of marbling and extra flavour.
For desert, treat yourself to our new mincemeat and custard tart or some of our special Hanzel and Gretel gingerbread. We will also be serving mulled cider to keep you warm. Enjoy inside or have it to take away so you can keep warm as you explore our grounds.
Our menu changes regularly; choose from a varied lunch offer including plated salads, soups, vegetable coconut curry and brie and cranberry crackers. You'll also find freshly made sandwiches with festive fillings, homemade cake and hot drinks all served on china.
With 70 percent of our food made on site with seasonal ingredients, tuck into our apple and brandy cake made with apples from our walled garden. We also cater for gluten and dairy free visitors; just ask one of our café team members for more information. Children can enjoy smaller portions of our main meals or select from our pick 'n' mix packed lunches.
