About Hoathwaite Campsite

A simple site in a stunning location close to the shore of Coniston Water.

Enjoy a wild camping experience without having to go right back to basics. Hoathwaite offers a number of facilities including toilet and shower block, washing-up facilities, a chemical disposal point and direct access to the lakeshore.

You can go on many outdoor adventures in the heart of the Lake District. Follow in the footsteps of Swallows and Amazons, and visit the magical Wild Cat Island, easily spotted from the shore.

Discover some of the Lake District’s finest towns and villages. Troutbeck, Windermere, Kendal and Ambleside are all just a few miles from the campsite.

During colder months, stay in one of our Swedish style tipis. Complete with a wood burning stove, sheepskin rugs and more, these new additions to Hoathwaite Campsite offer the perfect break whatever the weather.

About the Acorn rating

We have applied a 1-5 acorn rating to each cottage to be used only as a guide that covers location, style of interior and facilities you may be looking for. The range runs from 1 Acorn at a more basic level such as Bird How which due to its stunning yet remote location doesn’t have a caretaker through to 5 Acorns at the highest level – such as Shute Barton.

Cottage pricing is not judged on the Acorn rating alone and as all our cottages are of an individual nature we recommend that all factors are considered when making your choice.
