About The Farmhouse

A picture-perfect thatch cottage with modern rustic interiors, close to Poole Harbour.

A 16th-century reed thatched cottage, The Farmhouse probably started life as a longhouse. Inside, original features like its two inglenook fireplaces, give the cottage a real sense of history, but modern adaptations make the holiday home accessible to all.

Right on your doorstep is the RSPB Arne Reserve, with its wealth of rare bird life. Beyond it, the landscape continues to impress with large areas of open heathland and ancient oak woodland. You’ll be amazed by the diversity in the area.

Located at the heart of the Jurassic Coast, you’re well placed to enjoy this world famous stretch of coastline, with its secluded coves, towering cliffs and beautiful beaches. Just down the road from the cottage is the market town of Wareham. Enjoy its traditional pubs, shops selling local produce and, of course, it’s weekly markets.

About the Acorn rating

We have applied a 1-5 acorn rating to each cottage to be used only as a guide that covers location, style of interior and facilities you may be looking for. The range runs from 1 Acorn at a more basic level such as Bird How which due to its stunning yet remote location doesn’t have a caretaker through to 5 Acorns at the highest level – such as Shute Barton.

Cottage pricing is not judged on the Acorn rating alone and as all our cottages are of an individual nature we recommend that all factors are considered when making your choice.
