About Westwood Farm

A rustic farmhouse close to Corfe Castle and the South West Coast Path.

Set on a working cattle and sheep farm, this stone farmhouse offers uninterrupted views over the patchwork fields and hills of Purbeck. It was once used as a hunting lodge for Corfe Castle and has retained its rustic character with original flooring, inglenook fireplaces with wood burning fires and a Rayburn stove in the kitchen. To the front there is an enclosed garden with a fire-pit, BBQ and orchard. The cottage is linked by a loggia to another small cottage, The Cheese House

With enough room for eight people, Westwood Farm is perfect for large families or groups wanting to explore the golden beaches and rocky headland of the South Dorset Coast. Set out for a walk on one of the many footpaths nearby or loop onto the South West Coast Path. If the weather is against you, retreat inside to snuggle up in one of the cottage’s cosy window seats.

Just a five-minute drive away is Corfe Castle. The castle dates back more than 1,000 years and as a guest at Westwood Farm you can explore the historic ruins free of charge. A day trip to Brownsea Island is also not to be missed. Jump on the ferry at Sandbanks and head over to the island where you could spot wading birds in the lagoon or wander through the woodland in search of red squirrels.

About the Acorn rating

We have applied a 1-5 acorn rating to each cottage to be used only as a guide that covers location, style of interior and facilities you may be looking for. The range runs from 1 Acorn at a more basic level such as Bird How which due to its stunning yet remote location doesn’t have a caretaker through to 5 Acorns at the highest level – such as Shute Barton.

Cottage pricing is not judged on the Acorn rating alone and as all our cottages are of an individual nature we recommend that all factors are considered when making your choice.
