Masked Ball Christmas at Lanhydrock
With more of the house open for Christmas than ever before, you can wander among the dazzling replica costumes along the party house route, surrounded by colour, light and music. Enter the kitchens through the iron gate and gets hands-on with Christmas crafts and parlour games.
A grand entrance
Open every day from 30 November to 5 January (except Christmas day and Boxing day) 11am-4pm, you can arrive in style as you pose in our original 1890s phaeton carriage before heading inside to a warm welcome and a roaring fire.
In the inner hall you can join the party, learn some Victorian etiquette (and maybe some gossip!) and meet the other guests in their weird and wonderful costumes.
Discover the separate kitchen route and meet the house servants on their own Christmas night off. Join in with some parlour games, create your own Christmas crafts and learn some Victorian yuletide traditions.
Family fun this Christmas
Learn some traditional dance steps on the children’s trail through the gardens; can you perfect your bow and curtsey?
Get busy in the kitchens with clove-studded oranges, traditional Christmas crafts, fortune telling and parlour games.
The Learning Room will be open every day, a quiet space for making wishes, storytelling and activities. Mask-making workshops are bookable online.
Father Christmas will be visiting again this year in the warm and cosy Dining Room; places will be available to book through our events page from mid-October.
Getting out and about on the estate
You can wrap up warm and take the family around the gardens finishing at the decorated Thatched Cottage.
The wider estate is the perfect setting for winter walks and bike rides if you have a bit more time. Our cycle trails and hire centre are open every day except Christmas day.
You can warm up afterwards with festive food in the restaurant when the house is open or sit by the wood burner in the Park Café. Don’t forget those last minute gifts from our shop.
