Learning opportunities at Lyme

Deb building fun at Lyme, Cheshire

Whether it’s learning through play, or bringing lessons to life in the real world, there is something for every learner at Lyme.

Inspiring and memorable, Lyme offers an exciting range of learning experiences for your nursery, school, college or group. You can do it yourself or use our expertise to bring this special place to life and we will do everything we can to ensure it’s a great visit for all.

Self led

Come and take a wander around, you could do your own orienteering or nature walk, explore the House and Gardens, or simply play in Crow Wood - it’s up to you! All we ask is that you let us know when you are coming and if there is anything we can do to help.

Using our Learning Brochure below please choose which activities would best suit your learners and have the Lyme team facilitate these for you. We emphasise key skills such as collaboration, communication and creativity whilst ensuring our sessions are engaging and fun.

Outdoors we have activities such as den building, bug hunting, wild art and map skills which can be adapted for different ages. Indoors we have our Christmas or toys through the ages, upstairs/ downstairs and get creative sessions. If you have a particular topic or curriculum link in mind please get in touch and we will do our best to tailor your visit.

We have a large room known as the Boiler House (because it used to house the boiler!), which is available for hire with your booking. It is usually used to store belongings, eat lunch and run sessions in case of bad weather.

We have car, coach and minibus parking available; please let us know if this is required when you book.

Education Group Membership

This is like National Trust membership but for your entire school or group! It guarantees free entry to all National Trust properties and places, free parking and discounts on activities, so it often works out cheaper even after just one visit. For more information please click here.
