Celebrate the Jubilee at Polesden Lacey this half term

The last week of May promises to be an extra special one as the nation celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. What better place to come together with friends and family and enjoy the half term and jubilee bank holiday weekend than at the beautiful grounds of Polesden Lacey.

Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend

Over the extended bank holiday weekend, we’ll be turning back the clocks to the era of the Queen’s coronation with a fifties-themed celebration. With live music on the terrace from 1pm, the South lawn is the perfect place to meet with friends and family and enjoy a picnic whilst soaking in the stunning views across the valley. A different band will be performing each day playing swing, jazz and fifties rock’n’roll so there’ll be something to suit everyone’s taste.

Thurs 2 June:  The Swing Ninjas

Playing on the South Terrace from 1pm-3pm

Their motto is very apt for the whole Swing Ninja experience – ‘Hiding In The Shadows of Jazz’. This is definitely not chin-stroking jazz – this is dancing, shouting, smiling swing at its finest. Raw passionate music, at the highest, most entertaining level, whether played to a crowd of 10 or 10,000, The Swing Ninjas never disappoint.

Fri 3 June: The Scott Baylis Trio

Playing on the South Terrace from 1pm-3pm

A versatile and well-known musician, Scott Baylis boasts an impressive career from being a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra to playing trumpet and keyboards for the John East Project, Ibibio Sound Machine and The Baker Brothers, touring extensively worldwide. Career highlights include playing alongside Prince, Maceo Parker and Herbie Hancock.

Sat 4 June: The Polka Dots

Playing on the South Terrace from 1pm-3pm

Take three smooth sassy voices, arrange a collection of toe-tapping original and cover songs, add sharp dance routines and on-stage chemistry, and you have The Polka Dots bringing their own rockabilly fun to the South Lawn.
