Monotype printing for beginners with Robert Fitzmaurice
Join artist Robert Fitzmaurice to learn about and produce your very own monotype print on Tuesday March 28 from 11am - 4.30pm. £50 booking essential 0344 249 1895.
Suitable for complete beginners and anyone who is already painting and drawing but has not produced monotypes before and would like to develop their own creativity through this most painterly of print-making techniques.
The course will start in our stunning chapel with a talk and examples for inspiration, followed by an introduction to monotype, tools and techniques before the first practical session.
After lunch (not provided) we will discuss the morning's work and explore more advanced techniques before a second practical session. The day will conclude with a further discusion and examination of the next steps for further study.
Robert Fitzmaurice is a British painter and printmaker who has lived in Reading since 1984. Originally from Coventry he studied Fine Art at the universities of Sunderland (BA Hons First Class 1983) and Reading (MFA 1986). Since then his work has been exhibited internationally and entered a number of public and private collections.
His art presents the human figure in absurd, fragmented narratives that reference history, drama and rites of passage. Notable early exhibitions include Artist of the Day, Angela Flowers Gallery, London, and Whitworth Young Contemporaries, Manchester. Recent exhibitions this year include The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, International Print Center, New York and New Grounds Gallery in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
