Wimpole Cycle Trail
Wimpole Estate is set in the quiet Cambridgeshire countryside and is surrounded by rolling fields, small picturesque villages and farmland. This trail takes you on woodland track, arable fields and bridleways; all the variety and beauty Wimpole has to offer with the speed and fun of a good cycle challenge.

Start:
Stable Block, grid ref: TL336509
1
Start by the Stable Block and head East along the old estate driveway.
Wimpole Estate
2
Turn left up the road for a short distance until you reach a bridleway on your right (just before Home Farm).
Wimpole Estate
The last owner of Wimpole Estate was Elsie Bambridge – daughter of Rudyard Kipling. Using money she inherited from her famous author father, she was able to refurbish some of the hall, farm and parkland.
3
Head down the bridleway and past a farm on your left. The track will now get quite steep and is a test of stamina to get to the top without stopping! Eventually the track levels off and you will enjoy some fine views of the surrounding countryside.
4
The track continues on and through a small copse to the edge of a field. Turn left and continue a short distance until you reach a gap in the hedgerow.
5
Keeping to the right hand side of the hedgerow, follow the trail along the edge of the field, through another hedge gap until you reach a right hand turn. This is Mare Way an unmade track, part of the Harcamlow way long-distance path.
6
You now head quite steeply downhill (a good chance to get up some speed) and the track comes to a stop at a farm track, opposite a house.
7
Turn left down the farm track and continue until you see a right hand turn indicated on your right.
8
Following this track along the edge of another field will eventually take you into Cobb’s Wood.
Cobbs Wood
The woodland may have a natural look, but much of it was carefully visualised on paper before being landscaped. Cobb’s Wood was named after Geoffrey Cobb, the lord of the manor of Wratsworth; there’s now a lost village beneath its canopy.

9
You will be directed to turn right and follow the bridleway as it winds its way through the wood and back to the junction opposite Wimpole's main entrance at number 2.
