Summer walks at Winkworth Arboretum

Trees surround an open lake with the blue sky above

Make the most of the warm days with a walk through the fascinating arboretum at Winkworth. 121 acres of exotic shrubs, trees and flowering herbaceous plants await.

Nestled on a hillside in the heart of the Surrey Hills AONB, Winkworth's wild woodland is the perfect place to explore on a summertime walk. With a mixture of level walkways and challenging hills, there's a route for everyone; dogs on leads are welcome, and a disabled car park at the bottom of the Arboretum provides access to the meadow and lakeside walk.

If you're looking for some exercise, fill your lungs with fresh air and enjoy the sights of the Arboretum as you walk or jog. Take a break at the boathouse for a stunning view of the lake as the trees shimmer in the clear water.

When you've finished your walk, pop into the tea-room near the kiosk for a refreshing drink and a slice of cake, baked fresh daily. Every bite helps us preserve and protect Winkworth's historic landscape for years to come.

The natural play area at Winkworth Arboretum

Natural play area

Winkworth is a great outdoor space in which children can explore nature. Our Tree Adventure area is perfect for children to be active with a fireman’s pole, rope tunnel and mini climbing wall. It’s built from wood and other natural materials and provides all the inspiration a child needs to have a great time experiencing the outdoors. The play area is open daily.
