Summer of sport and adventure at Attingham

Four teenagers are playing volleyball in the play field at Attingham Park. The Summer of Sports logo is also on show

Join us for a summer of sport and adventure at Attingham with lots of activities taking place over the summer holidays. Canoe along the Tern, run through the Deer Park, or head up to the Field of Play on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays in the holidays to take part in a variety of sports (from Wednesday 26 July).

On Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer holiday, our team will be set up at the Field or Play where you can have a go at games such as mini archery, badminton, volleyball and table tennis.

On selected dates over the holidays, we’ll also have local sporty organisations set up so you can have a go at something new.

Canoeing on the Tern

Join TY Nant Outdoors and splash about on the River Tern with a canoe this summer. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve had a go before or if it’s your first time, the team will be on hand to help you out. Join a coached session, hire a canoe and paddle along the Tern on your own, or join a course working towards progressional awards with British Canoeing. Prices vary depending upon the activity, and TY Nant will be here on 26 and 30 July, and 2, 6, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27 and 30 August.

For some sessions booking in advance is essential through their website: TY Nant Outdoors

Running

The Repton Run Routes that cross the Deer Park are perfect for a gentle jog or a family race challenge. Head around the front of the Mansion to the Deer Park Bridge where the 1.5km, 2.5km and 4.5km routes start from.

Orienteering

Orienteering is all about adventure and navigation. The aim is, using only a map and a compass, to move between control points and complete the course in the quickest time possible. Whatever your age, whatever your pace, orienteering is for anyone, anywhere who wants to improve their navigational skills and really get involved with their surroundings.

Download our Berwick Route orienteering trail map and have a go.
