Come and taste our apples

Explore the garden of Rudyard Kipling and taste the many varieties of apples that we grow in our orchard.

Have a go at making your own juice with our apple press. Let the kids loose in an orchard and to eat an apple straight from the tree: that's number nine on the National Trust '50 Things to do before you're 11 and  3/4 list. Come and join in the fun.







National poetry day at Bateman's

A day of poetry and stories set in the home of one of the nation's literary geniuses. Enjoy a variety of  poems and have a go at writing your own. There will be a series of readings during the day of Rudyard Kipling’s well known, and some less familiar, verses as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth. Suitable for all ages.

Join in the footsteps of Rudyard Kipling as we have three named great walks on our estate that you can go on anytime throughout the autumn. See all the beautiful autumn colours and the unique views of the High Weald. There is a map that you can pick up before you set off.
