Family fun at Belton this Easter
Spring is finally here, it’s the perfect time to get the whole family together to discover the sights, smells and sounds of the season. Get hands on with fun filled activities running from Friday 3 April through to Sunday 19 April 2020.
Whether you’re after things to do with the kids or somewhere to shelter from the April showers, there’s plenty to get stuck into at Belton over the Easter holidays.
Friday 3 - Thursday 9 & Tuesday 14 - Sunday 19 April, 9.30am - 4.30pm.
Make the most of the holidays and explore the parkland to discover more about Belton’s feathered friends. The Rangers will be on hand with a variety of activities and workshops to sweep you off your feet.
A swift departure, family trail, 9.30am - 4.30pm, £2 per trail.
Follow the journey a swift takes on their migration route through Europe. Pick up a trail sheet near Visitor Reception before searching for clues on the parkland route.
The Bird Box, 10am - 4.30pm, small charges may apply.
Book on to a workshop in the bird box tent:
Woodcarving, Friday 3 - Sunday 5 April.
- Have a go at making a wood carved bird with the Wobbly Bodger and see how he makes his fan birds from the pole lathe.
Pottery painting and throwing, Monday 6 - Wednesday 8 April.
- Drop by to paint your own pottery bird or book into a session to try your hand at the pottery wheel.
Willow Weaving, Tuesday 14 - Thursday 16 April.
- Led by the local willow artist, Alison Walling (the creator of Belton’s 12 Days of Christmas in 2019), have a go at making your very own willow feather at one of her led workshops.
Falconry, Friday 17 - Sunday 19 April.
- See the birds of prey on display throughout the day or book on to one of the handling sessions to get up close and personal with our feathered friends.
Ranger station, 10am - 4.30pm, FREE.
Meet the Rangers who look after Belton’s Parkland, surveying the wildlife and keeping a record of the birds they see all year around.
Half-term fun in the Discovery Centre
Friday 3 - Sunday 19 April, 11am - 4pm.
Open every day of the school holidays, come along to discover more about wildlife at Belton with activities and crafts for all the family to enjoy. There’ll even be a chance to make a bird feeder, create a bird puppet or try your hand at feather art to take home. Small charges may apply.
Children’s University Passports can also be stamped here.
Go on an Art Adventure
£4 per scrapbook.
Pick up a scrapbook and go on an Art Adventure around Belton House to gain your Discover Arts Award and receive a certificate. Arts Award Discover is an introductory award open to children and young people aged up to 25. It’s a fun way to find out about Belton House and some of the people who lived here.
Ranger pack adventures
Friday 3 - Sunday 19 April, 11am-4pm, FREE.
Explore Belton with a Ranger Pack this Easter. Borrow a pack from the Discovery Centre and simply return it at the end of your visit. Each pack comes with all the equipment that you need and shows the best places to take part in ranger activities. There are four ranger activities to choose from:
- Create: be an artist
- Explore: be a tree detective
- Discover: be a twitcher
- Discover: be a bug hunter
Friday '50 things' challenges
Friday 3 & 17 April, 11am - 4pm, FREE.
Join the play team in Belton's outdoor adventure playground as they challenge families to complete a different '50 things' activity each Friday during the school holidays.
As you head into the playground, turn left and follow the path until you see the bunting leading to the ’50 things’ station. This spring we’ll challenge you to:
- No.44 Watch a bird on Friday 3 April
- No.43 Help a wild animal on Friday 17 April
Cadbury Easter egg hunt
Friday 10 - Monday 13 April, 9.30am - 4.30pm, £3 per trail.
Enjoy Easter fun at Belton House with the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt this school holiday.
Spring bulb planting
Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 April, 11am - 4pm, FREE.
Join the garden team to ‘have a go’ bulb planting and help add to Belton’s annual spring flower display.
Attention all passengers, collect a choo-choo loyalty card from Belton’s miniature train to receive your tenth journey free. Train tickets cost £1.50 per ride.

All activities require grounds admission unless otherwise stated. National Trust members receive free house and grounds admission at Belton House.
