Holiday fun at Hardwick
There’s lots see and do both inside and outside this summer. If you have an hour or a full day, take part in the activities, games and fun during the holidays.
Discover the ‘mini beasts’ that lurk inside the Hall and make your own pest trap on one of the Mini Beast Trap days, take part in or get closer to the treasures of Hardwick on one of the Handling the Collection days.
Pretend you’re a Ranger on one of the Tractor days or get crafty with our 50 Things activities; making cress heads, flower festival headbands, clay fairy tale houses or nature picture frames. There will be a small charge for some of these crafts. To make sure you don’t miss out on anything, we’ve listed all the activities in more detail in the ‘What’s on’ section.
For an active day out why not take a compass and make new discoveries on the orienteering course, grab your map from the Visitor Centre and head out on your park adventure or join us on one of our traditional sports days.
Families will be able to enjoy traditional games every day; ranging from playing croquet, boules, and quoits. Have a go using a diablo and test your skills playing cup and ball amongst other games!
For children of all ages, swing, climb and play your way through the Woodland Play Trail, then head up to the Stableyard to build a den or make a mud pie in the ‘kitchen’.
After all that fun, enjoy lunch in the Restaurant or buy lunch boxes to take away for a picnic and treat yourselves to some delicious scoop ice cream.
If you are in the area this month, you may like to try some of the other activities at another nearby National Trust place this summer too.
