October half-term at Hardwick

Children playing in the autumn leaves

This October half-term (27 October - 4 November) come and get creative with a host of activities outside and in. Enjoy the autumnal glow across the estate with a walk, and help us as we prepare for Christmas and be part of a special festive creation.

Get crafty

In the Stableyard there will be a range of autumnal crafts to have a go at throughout the week, including bat headband making, leaf crowns, weave your own spiders web and pinecone hedgehogs. Please check the What's On pages for dates and times of each activity.

Outdoor adventures

In the gardens, a special autumn spotter sheet will help younger visitors to discover some of the hidden (and not so hidden) things to be found in the many nooks and crannies at this time of year. The gardens also make a great place for hide and seek and leaf kicking, or  even leaf raking.

Ranger Day

On Wednesday 31 October there is the chance to find out what a Ranger does with our ever-popular Ranger Day. Come and chat to the team, see some of the things they've done, find out about the tools they use and try out their tractor!

Walks and wildlife

Across the many acres of parkland, there's plenty of places to walk, run and play. Tick off some 50 Things to do before you're 11 ¾ , walk one of the of our routes or see what wildlife you can spot. Down by the ponds and along Lady Spencer's Walk, listen and look out for feathered friends that are visiting.

Be part of our Christmas creation

Although a few weeks away yet, we've started preparations for Christmas. If you fancy joining in, head to Below Stairs in the Hall to decorate a postcard that will make up our giant advent calendar. Then at Christmas, come back to see the finished masterpiece.
