October half term at Hardwick

There are some faces hiding in the woods at Hardwick this autumn. Head down to Lady Spencer’s walk and follow the Guardians of Hardwick trail to see if you can spot them all. What can you see, hear, feel and smell on the way?
The Guardians of Hardwick trail continues in the hall so there are lots more faces to find. Keep a lookout for the tapestries and doorways.
Take part in an Autumn nature hunt as you explore the gardens and parkland. Look out for different leaves, shapes and textures and draw or describe your findings. The leaves are changing into beautiful colours as the seasons change. How many of these can you discover?
Join in weaving a natural tapestry in the old kitchens of the Hall. A large frame with twine will allow you to use the natural materials gathered, leaves, sticks and cones to decorate the natural tapestry.
Splash about in puddles or squelch in the mud with your wellies across the Hardwick park and woodland walks. The gardens make a great place for hide and seek and kicking about in the fallen orange leaves. See the variety of late blooming flowers along the boarders including the beautiful dahlias.
Walks and wildlife
Across the many acres of parkland, there's plenty of places to walk, run and play. Tick off some 50 Things to do before you're 11 ¾ , walk one of the of our routes or see what wildlife you can spot. Down by the ponds and along Lady Spencer's Walk, listen and look out for feathered friends that are visiting.
Explore the Hall
Take cover from any wet and windy days and explore the Hall. With three floors to explore, there's plenty of rooms and corridors to get lost in. Climb the stone steps and be amazed by the grand long gallery and high great chamber.
