Welly walks in Yorkshire

Whatever the weather, keep the kids entertained looking for wildlife or setting off in search of an adventure playground. Little feet can tire easily, so here are some of our best walks in Yorkshire for families.

Wellies boots

Go on a parkland wander at Nostell

There are 300 acres to explore in the parkland at Nostell - see how far your little ones can walk as you go past the lake, woods and up to the pyramid-shaped Obelisk Lodge. Just make sure there's enough energy left to enjoy the adventure play area.

Become a winter explorer at Fountains Abbey

Put your best welly forward and walk around Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal with our family winter explorer map. It'll show you the best places to find the deer, spot ducks and geese and where you can try one of 50 things to do before you're 11¾.

Child walking along a muddy path wearing wellies

Take a walk around the rocks at Brimham

Take a mile walk around Brimham Rocks and see how many puddles you can jump in. Challenge the kids to guess how old the rocks really are (we'll give you a clue - it's over 320 million years!). Look out for noisy jackdaws along the way too.

Take an easy walk along the Yorkshire Coast

Take a trip to Ravenscar and go on a short one mile walk along the cliff tops to see what you can see along the coast. When you've had your walk, call into Robin Hood's Bay for a paddle on the beach and to see what you can find in the rock pools.
