See how Christmas celebrations and decorations have evolved over the centuries from indulgent feasting with the Georgians, the arrival of the Christmas tree with the Victorians, to the memorable ‘make do and mend’ of the 1940s and 50s. How many traditions in the making will you recognise?
Warm up by the fire pit
Saturday 30 November – Sunday 15 December (Saturday, Sunday) 12pm -3pm
New for this year, head to our festive tea-garden for a warm up by the fire pit. Enjoy a cup of mulled wine and mince pie, or tuck into a turkey sandwich and gingerbread latte while listening to carols. Perfect for outdoor lover as well as four legged friends. Enjoy a taste of Christmas with all the family members. Fire pit is weather permitting.
A Victorian Father Christmas experience
Saturday 30 November - Sunday 15 December (weekends only)
Step back in time and meet Father Christmas during the Victorian times. Before the day, you’ll receive a personalised invitation and get to enjoy traditional festive Victorian crafts, before meeting Father Christmas in his grotto to receive a gift. Art for Christmas – Community Exhibition
Saturday 15 November – Sunday 15 December (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
The Art for Christmas exhibition is a creative platform for artists to showcase a mixed media of work, and celebrates the best arts and crafts from Yorkshire and beyond. Covering a variety of subjects including local life, landscape, wildlife and more, there are no restrictions and plenty of diversity. Celebrating its fifth year, it once again showcases some of the best undiscovered artists in the region. All pieces are for sale with a proportion supporting Nunnington Hall.
