Visiting Nymans: What you need to know

Children playing in the summer

Welcome to Nymans. The garden, house, cafe, shop, woodland and toilets are open. The gallery will remain closed. Here you’ll find some helpful information about what to expect and what’s on offer when you visit. If you are a regular visitor things may seem a little different, however all measures have been put in place to keep our staff, volunteers and visitors safe.

During your visit

We kindly ask that you maintain social distancing to keep everyone safe. To help with this we request that you follow the one-way in and one-way out system in the garden. Entrance to the garden is to the left of the reception building. Please wear a mask while we check your ticket and welcome you into the garden.

We request that masks are worn inside the café when ordering, as well as in the toilets.

Garden and woodland

We operate a one-way system in and out of the garden to help ensure social distancing. The woodland is open as normal.

House and gallery

The house is open but the gallery will remain closed for the present time.

Eating and Shopping

You can choose between sitting inside in the café or outside in the tea garden. A maximum of 6 people or two family groups can sit together indoors. The café is also still operating a one way system and we're required to capture details from everyone over the age of 16 for test and trace. This includes both inside and outside tables. Please don't forget your mask.

Tasty treats, hearty one pots and quick snacks are on offer in the cafe at the top of the garden and, if you need a quick pitstop, the horsebox is open near the house for everything you need for an impromptu picnic, including delicious Sussex ice cream.

Our shop and plant centre are open.

Our new Riding House Café.

We are converting the old Riding House next to the house, into a much needed additional café in the heart of the garden. There may be some disruption while we complete building work. The café should be ready in time for autumn 2021.

Access for everyone

If you need to bring a carer or essential companion to accompany you as a disabled visitor, you can do so free of charge.

Car Park

Our car park opens at 9.45am and closes at 6.00pm. If you prefer you can travel to Nymans on public transport. You’ll find further details about this on our ’Getting Here’ section of the website.
