Winter in the garden

Walk off the winter excess with a stroll around the fascinating gardens at Plas Newydd.

Overdone the turkey and the Christmas pud? Why not try walking off the festive excess with a stroll around our ever-interesting gardens.

The setting, gelogy and climate of the gardens all combine to create the conditions for a very special place.

You can travel around the globe and visit far flung continents as you walk around Plas Newydd, without ever leaving the banks of the Menai Strait.

You can spot signs of our well-travelled garden all over the grounds but especially in the Australasian Arboretum, Italianate Terrace and the West Indies

Ask at the Visitor Centre for a map and more information about these areas.

Or explore the hidden corners of the gardens, including Church Bank wood - a quiet and peaceful spot that's home to our red squirrels.
