Dogs at Tattershall

Dogs allowed in the grounds but not inside the castle

Your pooch is very welcome to accompany you at Tattershall but there are a few restrictions due to the historic nature of the site.

Go walkies in our grounds...

Although we don't have large extensive grounds you can bring your dog to Tattershall and wander outside so long as it is kept on a short lead. We have two large moats with sheer walls and steep banks so we don't want them to fall in...after all they where made for men to get trapped inside.

but not inside the castle.

Unfortunately we cannot allow dogs anywhere inside the castle due to the limited access (You don't want to take a dog up a spiral staircase when there are other visitors coming down at the same time) and because the plaster floors are pourous (any little presents left behind will stain the floor permenantly).

Things to think about

Please check whether we have any events on the day of your visit as there may be lots of children running around or loud bangs from battle re-enactments; both of which may spook your furry friend.

There are some fabulous National Trust places elsewhere in Lincolnshire where you and your four-legged friend can enjoy a day out like Gunby Estate, Hall and Gardens or Belton House.

Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the property but please take into consideration whether you and your dog can safely climb the staircase.
