Autumn Market at Cotehele
At Cotehele we love to celebrate the Tamar Valley and our local area. That's why, at our Autumn Market on 19 and 20 October you'll find local food and crafts from artisans and makers from the south west region.
How else do we show our love for local?
In the garden
Our Mother Orchard was planted ten years ago to create a collection of local apple trees from which we can propagate new generations of trees all specially adapted to growing in the weather conditions here in the south west. There are 125 local apple varieties grown here, all with their own unique taste, texture and appearance.
In the gallery
The Cotehele Gallery exclusively exhibits and sells the work of artists and makers from the West Country. Some of these creatives also hold workshops at Cotehele, to share their knowledge and skills - Peter Dolbear runs regualr watercolour painting workshops and Miranda Hackett will be here near Christmas to run a session on wreathmaking.
In our events
Our annual Winter Fair, like this new Autumn Market, supports local artisans and makers. On 2 and 3 November you'll find stalls in the buildings and marquee at Cotehele. They'll be selling a range of handmade and affordable gifts to help you with your Christmas shopping list and we're putting on some live music along the way.
All the flowers used in the Christmas Garland in the great hall are grown on site in the Cut Flower Garden.
Every year we traditionally welcome many choirs and performers from the local area to sing under the garland to entertain our visitors.
