Sue Rees Volunteer Profile
Events Volunteer, Croome
What inspired me to want to start volunteering with the National Trust? Always enjoy going to NT properties and wanted to give something back to help keep these special places for everyone to share and enjoy.
What's the best part of Volunteering at Croome?
Team spirit and the feeling that what you do is appreciated and that you really are helping not hindering! It’s also about making new friends.
Really getting to know the court through cleaning it you feel the history as you work in the different rooms. It’s also fabulous to view all the exhibitions and see them develop.
What’s keeping me busy at the moment?
Trying to fit in some more conservation, walks and work on the Christmas trail selling.
What's my favourite part of Croome?
The view from the gate by the Church first thing in the morning when it is cold and sunny is simply stunning and well worth getting up early for!
What's my favourite story about Croome?
'Capability' Brown the whole development involving moving the village and the Church, what a feat of planning and engineering.
What do I do when I’m not volunteering?
Work, see family, garden, go on holiday and try to get fitter!
What advice would I give anyone thinking about volunteering with the National Trust?
Go for it you can give as much time as you can afford to. It’s such a friendly place to work and you feel better for helping out and giving back to these special places that are there for us all to enjoy if we all support them.
