Tŷ Mawr Wybrnant

Rydym yn wynebu colledion o £200m o ganlyniad i'r coronafirws ac wedi gorfod adolygu pob agwedd o’r elusen, gyda’r bwriad o wneud arbedion ym mhob gweithgaredd.
Yn y tymor byr a canolig, effeithir sut y byddwn yn agor ein heiddo llai. Rydym yn cydnabod bod Tŷ Mawr Wybrnant yn lle o bwys mawr i’n cenedl, llenyddiaeth Cymreig, iaith a chrefydd, ac mae Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol Cymru yn cymryd y cyfrifoldeb o edrych ar ôl y safle ar gyfer y genedl yn ddifrifol iawn. Oherwydd effaith Covid y cynnig cyfredol yw i oedi ailagor yn ystod y broses ymgynghori.
Mae hyn hefyd yn cynnig cyfle mawr inni ehangu pwysigwrydd y safle tu hwnt i ffiniau oriau agored cyfyng, a’r nifer bach o ond tua 3000 o ymwelwyr y flwyddyn. Byddwn yn edrych i ddatblygu rhaglen newydd sy’n amlygu pwysigrwydd treftadol y safle a’r Esgob Morgan, trwy ddenu partneriaid a chefnogwyr i weithio efo ni er mwyn dylunio dyfodol llewyrchus gyda phrofiad dyfnach.
Yn y cyfamser - er lles eu diogelwch a'u cadwraeth – bydd casgliad craidd o'r Beiblau, gan gynnwys Beibl 1588 William Morgan, ar gael i’w gweld mewn ardal dynodedig o lyfrgell Castell y Waun. Cyflymwyd y symudiad hwn oherwydd bod yr aelod staff sy'n diogelu’r safle, wedi bod yn llwyddiannus mewn rôl newydd y tu allan i'r Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol.
Mae pob cynnig yn rhan o’r broses ymgynghori 45 diwrnod felly byddai'n amhriodol rhoi sylwadau ar feysydd penodol ar hyn o bryd. Rydym yn gweithio gydag aelodau o staff sy'n cael eu heffeithio, ac maent yn cael cyfle i rannu eu meddyliau fel rhan o'r broses ymgynghori ar hyn o bryd. Rydym hefyd yn gweithio gyda'n gwirfoddolwyr i'w hysbysu am ein cynigion, ac er nad ydynt yn rhan o'r ymgynghoriad ffurfiol, mae ganddynt gyfle i rannu eu barn.

Tŷ Mawr Wybrnant is a place of enormous cultural significance to the nation of Wales, Welsh literature, language and religion and National Trust Wales takes the responsibility of looking after this site for the nation incredibly seriously. Due to the impacts of Covid, and £200m losses across the Trust, the current proposal is to pause reopening while we undergo our period of consultation.
This presents opportunities for extending the significance of the site beyond its limited opening hours and current reach of around 3000 visitors a year. A higher impact programme of cultural moments which play to the significance of the site and Bishop Morgan could be created, and we would engage and work differently with partners and supporters to explore and design this.
In the interim – for their security and conservation – the core Bible collection including the 1588 William Morgan will be displayed and given greater prominence in a dedicated exhibition at the library of Chirk Castle – and available to view when it reopens in the next few weeks. This move has been accelerated because the staff member who provides the required security provision for the contents has been successful at a new role outside of the National Trust.
All proposals are subject to a 45-day consultation process. We are working with members of staff who may be affected by the proposals, and they currently have an opportunity to share their thoughts as part of the consultation process. We are also working with our volunteers to keep them informed, and while they are not part of the formal consultation, they have an opportunity to share their views.
Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.
Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:
If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.
Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.
An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:
Gift Aid | Standard | |
---|---|---|
Amount paid by visitor | £11.00 | £10.00 |
Tax refund from Government* | £2.75 | £0.00 |
Total received by the National Trust | £13.75 | £10.00 |
