Over time coastal erosion has been a threat to this section of the South West Coast Path as well as prolonged periods of wet weather making it increasingly difficult to walk in the area.
Path Improvements
With funding from the big lottery fund, co-ordinated by the Coastal Communities Fund (CCF), a new section of path at Orcombe opened on September 1st, 2015. The old path was closed, and has now been allowed to scrub over with vegetation.
Work has recently been completed by contractors to improve access along this stretch of coast path. The improvements include new steps, which brings in a new 400 metre stretch of path adjacent to the old path and landscaping parts of the existing path. As the ground recovers from the works, the path will be much easier to navigate, even during wetter weather.
