A famous garden at Nymans, West Sussex

Colourful summer borders in the gardens at Nymans, West Sussex

A beautifully designed garden that is filled with exotic plants. The Gothic mansion house was partially destroyed by fire in 1947 and the ruins add to the romance.

The famous collection of magnolias is a highlight in spring. The core of the beautiful Rose Garden is centred on Maud Messel’s treasured collection of old-fashioned roses brought to Nymans in the 1920s.
The long double borders, with thousands of annuals, create colourful drama in summer. Combined with perennials to create steeply tiered borders and produce a kaleidoscope of colours on a grand scale.
