    Druid’s Cave Farmhouse has its own path that leads through the iconic Brimham Rocks. You can reach the centre in just a few minutes' walk from the cottage. Here, giant rock formations have been eroded over millions of years, creating unusual structures that seem to defy gravity and were once thought to have been stacked by ancient Druids. It's a natural playground, where children and adults can scramble over and through the rocks, exploring formations like the Dancing Bear, Mushroom Rock and Druid's Writing Desk. 

    The farmhouse backs onto woodland, away from the main visitor area, with a view of the lush Nidderdale Valley from the garden patio. Built in the late 1800s, the house has been added to and modernised over time to make a comfortable home, and in its most recent transformation we've refurbished it from top to bottom.  

    You can find out about the history, wildlife and unique geology of Brimham Rocks by joining a guided tour. Experienced climbers can bring their own equipment to scale the rocks, and there are bookable climbing and abseiling sessions that are beginner friendly. There’s plenty to do if you want to keep your feet on the ground, like orienteering and geocaching, plus miles of walking trails from the cottage’s doorstep through the surrounding heather moorland. The money you spend on your stay will contribute to the care of this rare habitat, which flowers in pinks and purples from June and is home to ground nesting birds and shaggy cattle. 

    You’ll have free entry to National Trust places, including Fountains Abbey, which can be walked to on a 7.5-mile route. For longer walks, the 53-mile long Nidderdale Way passes nearby, and the Yorkshire Dales is on the doorstep.  

    The spa town of Harrogate - with tea rooms, bars, restaurants and traditional Turkish Baths - is less than half an hour’s drive away. Other attractions include the historic cities of York and Ripon, plus numerous quaint market towns like Pateley Bridge, Ilkley and Skipton.
