Help open up the House

February means it’s time to open the house at Lyme, but there's a lot for our conservation team to do to keep Lyme a special place now and in the future. Help out and discover more about our work by getting stuck into activities from metal polishing, to bannister and furniture dusting. The house is open Friday-Tuesday, 11am-4pm (last entry 3pm.)

Crow Wood Playscape

Follow the signs from the car park, past the Timber Yard cafe and shop to Lyme's adventure playground in Crow Wood. Brave the giant slide, enjoy the swings or get creative in the sandpit. Crow Wood is level access for buggies and wheelchairs, and there is accessible parking by the Timber Yard.

We ask that children are supervised by their parent or guardian at all times whilst using the play equipment. Crow Wood Playscape is open every day 8am-6pm.

50 Things to do before you're 11 3/4

Tick off some of your 50 Things this half term. Get inspired with these suggestions, or check out the full list below.

6) Go welly wandering - you're likely to need some waterproof footwear as you explore some of Lyme's muddier trails through the woods and moorlands!
19) Play pooh sticks - several bridges around Elmerhurst wood are the perfect place to race your sticks.
28) Climb a huge hill - What can you see from the top?
45) Find your way with a map - Pick up a free estate map at the information centre, or purchase an orienteering map to find your way around one of Lyme's permanent courses.

Facilities at Lyme

We have high chairs available at each of our food outlets, and babychanging facilities at the House and the Timber Yard. For little ones heading into the house, we have front-carrying baby slings or hip-carrying infant seats available to borrow. There is secure buggy storage in the courtyard for a £1 refundable deposit, as well as free lockers to store large bags and other items. We also have a private baby feeding room adjacent to the toilets at the house.

It's a long walk across Lyme, especially if you're arriving at the entrance via public transport, but our free shuttle bus is available 10.30am-5pm to drive visitors between the admissions hut, house and main car park area.
