Rainy Days at Lyme
We all love a good splash around in puddles, but on a rainy day we've also got plenty of activities to keep you and your family dry here at Lyme.
Explore the House
Follow in the footsteps of Thomas Legh, Lyme's very own Indiana Jones with our free children's trail, and learn the stories of his globe-trotting adventures through the treasures that he brought back to his home. See our Lymelight object of the month, and get a card to write your own response to it. In the nursery suite, discover toys from past and present, and play a wet afternoon away.
The Printer's Workshop
On weekends throughout the summer, learn how revolutionary printer William Caxton built a brand new printing press back in the 1400s to create Lyme's Sarum Missal. Learn about the history of printing, and get stuck in with pen and paper to create your very own printer's mark.
Please note - the Printer's Workshop and Dressing Room are volunteer-run. You are welcome to give the Lyme estate office a call on 01663 762023 to check what is open before you visit.
Facilities at Lyme
For little ones heading into the house, we have front-carrying baby slings or hip-carrying infant seats available to borrow, with secure buggy storage in the courtyard for a £1 refundable deposit, as well as free lockers to store all those essential items! There are babychanging facilities at the house and Timber Yard, and high chairs available at our food and drink outlets. We also have a private baby feeding room adjacent to the toilets at the house.
