Families at Nymans

Children playing at Nymans

There’s plenty for families to see and do at Nymans. Explore the garden and woods or discover hidden treasures in the house. Activity and spotter sheets will keep little ones happy, while our school holiday trails in the garden, and walks in the woods, are fun for everyone.

School holiday trails

Discover more about the hidden stories of Nymans with one of our family trails. We have a different themed trail each school holiday that you can collect on arrival from our welcome hub (charges apply). Follow the trail to find the clues to complete the challenge.

Play in the garden

The Messel family enjoyed playing in the garden and we've activities to help you have fun too. Explore the bamboo jungle and topiary shapes, or build a den in the den building area.  Pick up a spotter activity to hunt for seasonal flowers and plants, and keep a look out for bugs and birds.

Woodland fun

The woods are a great place to explore with boardwalks, water cascades, mud, flowers and very tall trees. Our three circular walks will show you some of the best bits (pick up a map from the welcome hub). See if you can find the large wooden sculptures, including a kingfisher, owls and a giant beetle.

50 things to do before you're 11 ¾

Visit the welcome hub to see which of the 50 things to do before you're 11 ¾ activities you could do on your visit. Create some wild art or have fun with sticks - both challenges are great to do whatever the weather. The garden and woods are a great place to start your nature adventures

Eating with us

Our cafe, located by the main entrance, opens at 10am and has indoor and outdoor seating for those purchasing food and drinks. The main menu is served from 12 - 2.30pm and for children we offer lunch boxes and half size portions of main meals.

At peak times you can pick up a snack from the tea garden kiosk or from the horse box by the house, where you'll find sandwiches, cakes & drinks.

If its sunny weather why not bring a picnic to enjoy and treat yourself to an ice-cream. On a cold day a hot chocolate topped with marshmallows is a warming treat.
