50 things at Plas Newydd

Calling all young adventurers! Whatever the time of year, there's something for every explorer at Plas Newydd. Do your favourite activities over and over again, or give all 50 a go - the choice is yours. Here are a few of our favourite things to do from the list.

No. 1 Get to know a tree

What will you do today at Plas Newydd? Why not go for a woodland walk through Dairy Wood or the Arboretum and see how many different kinds of trees you can see?

No. 2 Roll down a really big hill

There's one thing that everyone must try at least once when they visit Plas Newydd. Go on, give it a go. Challenge all the family to a roll down the big hill (just remember not to go too fast!)

No. 4 Build a den

Go exploring in Dairy Wood and find a secluded spot to create your den, tucked away amongst the trees. Our garden team have supplied us with plenty of branches and foliage – perfect den making materials! Follow the path from the Visitor Centre to the wood and you’ll find some perfect den making locations a little way from the Adventure playground – and we’ll leave out some branches for you to use.

No. 6 Go welly wandering

Kick the autumn leaves in your wellies!

No. 31 Make friends with a bug

Discover the creatures of the undergrowth at Plas Newydd. What sorts of insects live amongst the leaves and wildflowers? How many butterflies can you spot?

Stop for a while and look up at the clouds. What can you see? Is it a cat, a dog or an elephant? Can you guess each other's cloud creatures?

Can you spot animal footprints as you wander around the garden? See the signs our resident red squirrels have left for you. Here's a clue, they love to nibble pine cones!

There are so many varieties of bird life that visit the garden here at Plas Newydd. From robins, swallows, oyster catchers - even our resident pheasants who like to make an appearance every now and then! See how many you can spot.
