The Drawing Room

The Drawing Room at Standen is an elegant room, with ‘Sunflower’ wallpaper chosen by Margaret and a ‘Vine’ hanging embroidered by her hand. Webb designed the embossed copper wall lights complete with sunflower design.

The Morning Room

This cosy room is where the ladies of the Beale family would come to read or embroider. Originally Margaret acquired Morris & Co. ‘Daffodil’ printed wall-hangings for this room, and the built-in bookcase was designed by Philip Webb.

Standen's garden

Margaret Beale was a keen gardener, and designed the planting schemes for Standen. The garden today reflects Margaret’s original ideas with a kitchen garden and quarry. Every spring the borders bloom with colour.
