Completed Projects at Wimpole

Re-thatching the Great Barn at Wimpole 2016

Wimpole has a number of both large and small projects that have taken place over the last few years and here are just a few examples.

Re-thatching the Great Barn

The Great Barn has been re-thatched and given a spruce up with new sedge and reed on the main roof and also new ridging.  The other thatched buildings in the historical farmyard will be completed over the next few years.

Woodyard cottage

One of our estate buildings, Woodyard Cottage, has had its roof replaced so the building is weatherproofed and stabilised.  It has now been renovated inside, to make it habitable and it's now a rental property for the Estate.

Wimpole Gothic Tower

The largest project at Wimpole recently, was the conservation of the Gothic Tower, including the restoration of the surrounding walls, to stabilise the stonework and to provide access around the exterior of the structure.  We still have some landscaping to complete, but the major work has now been done.
