Turn a walk into a family adventure searching for the secret geocaches we've hidden in the grounds of Anglesey Abbey. You can also search for 'public' geocaches in the fields around Anglesey Abbey.
Geocaching is a free, high tec form of treasure hunt using GPS enabled devices to find hidden caches.
You start your adventure by downloading the co-ordinates of each hidden geocach to a smartphone or GPS receiver from www.geocaching.com.
Then, using your GPS device, you navigate your way to a specific set of GPS coordinates and try to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.
At Anglesey Abbey we have seven geocaches hidden around the grounds. When you find a cache, sign and return the log book; and swap an item from the cache with something amazing in your pocket. When you've finished, put the cache back exactly where you found it for the next person to find.
Finding a geocache is No.49 on our list of 50 Things to do before you're 11¾. You can collect your 50 Things scrapbook from the Visitor Centre. Don't forget to collect a geocaching sticker for your scrapbook before you leave.
Geocaching is great fun for all the family and a great way to explore the gardens.
