Investing in our future
Work has started on a major project to re-furbish the Anglesey Abbey Visitor Centre.
When our Visitor Centre opened in 2007 it was designed to accommodate around 170,000 visitors per annum.
Since then the popularity of Anglesey Abbey has grown dramatically, and last year we welcomed an amazing 316,000 visitors.
Not unsurprisingly, at peak periods we sometimes struggle to cope with the sheer volume of visitors, and your experience may not match the high standards we want it to be.
Work has now started on a major renovation of the Visitor Reception and Restaurant servery areas, This major financial investment will reduce queuing and dramatically improve visitor flow through Reception and Restaurant areas.
The renovation should be completed by 23 March. During this period the Gardens, House (from 8 March) Mill, Plant Centre and Shop will be open as normal, but the Visitor Centre will be closed.
Access to the Gardens, Shop and Plant Centre will be signposted via the Staff & Volunteer Car Park (which will be closed to vehicles), where portable toilets will also be located.
Catering will be available via a marquee in the car-park. A limited menu of hot & cold drinks, sandwiches, seasonal 'one pot' hot meals and cake will be available.
