Working holidays at Arlington
Fresh air, fun and a physical challenge: the alternative activity holiday. Join us for one of our working holidays and you'll get the chance to enjoy a fantastic introduction to the work of the National Trust.
Bunk along the Exmoor coast
You'll be staying in the Exmoor bunkhouse located in the village of Countisbury. A short walk across fields opposite the bunkhouse leads to a high cliff, with views across to South Wales on a clear day. A minibus will ferry you to your place of work and any activities, plus you’ll get a chance to chip in with the cooking and cleaning, bonding with your new holiday team.
Protect our special places
It's one of the National Trusts chief philosophies that special places are forever and for everyone. Whether you’re maintaining a footpath, or putting up fencing your work will be linked to this key objective. Chances are during your work you’ll get to meet people visiting the place you’re working, and see how your activity is ensuring these visits can continue for future generations.
Trial being a volunteer
The National Trust has over 70,000 volunteers who help across all areas of the charity. A working holiday is a chance for you to sample this work, whilst visiting a beautiful location. If you’ve been inspired, we can help connect you with a National Trust property in your local area with regular volunteering opportunities.
Something for all appetites
The Arlington estate offers a range of holidays, from helping the gardeners prepare for opening during the spring, to working with the ranger team to build a new chestnut fence in the parkland. In addition your holiday may include offsite activities to help you explore the local area, for example wild swimming, guided walks or bush craft skills.
