Easter for families at Bodnant Garden

Girls running among Easter daffodils

With spring bursting into life, Easter is always a special time at Bodnant Garden. This year will be extra special as we celebrate the release of the new movie The Secret Garden, on Good Friday, with family activities to make your visit even more magical.

Bodnant Garden was one of the locations chosen for the film, a 2020 remake of the classic story by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

The movie, by Studiocanal and Heyday Films, hits cinemas on 10 April... but you don’t have to wait that long for a little preview of what’s to come. At Bodnant we’re setting the scene with a host of film-inspired things to see and do around the garden, running from Saturday 4 April right through the Easter holidays.

Children can immerse themselves in nature learning how to Spot a Robin, Train a Robin, Plant Secret Seeds, Make a Mini Secret Garden and Find the Key Tree. These are all free activities (normal garden admission applies) See our What’s On listings for details.

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt

Over the Easter weekend we’ll also be running the ever-popular Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt. Follow the clues through fields, woods and across streams, complete the simple activities and spend some ‘Magic Minutes’ in nature to discover the secret store of chocolate prizes.

The Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt runs daily from Friday 10 April to Monday 13 April and must be booked in advance, online or by calling the Central Booking Office. Timed slots are available every half hour from 10.30am, with last entry 2pm. The cost is £2 per child (this does not include garden entry, normal garden admission applies). See our What's On section to book the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt.

With 80 acres of world-class garden to explore there’s something for the whole family to enjoy – find your own secret space among daffodil meadows, bluebell woods, cherry blossom glades, and in the formal gardens full of colourful spring displays. Take refreshment at one of our two tearooms, dine al fresco at our Dell kiosk, or bring your own to enjoy at our picnic areas around the garden.

From April 1 your four-legged family members are welcome too, on #WagWednesday evenings from 5-8pm (until the end of September).

We’ll be celebrating the release of The Secret Garden - and Bodnant Garden’s film debut - all around the site in April, so come along and find out more. Join us at Bodnant Garden this Easter time and celebrate springtime at #TheSecretGarden in Wales.
