Easter fun for families at Bodnant Garden
The garden is springing into life. There's so much to see and to do this Easter, guaranteed to make the holidays a special time for the whole family.
Our main event this April is the opening of a new area, Furnace Wood and Meadow – 20 acres of hillside garden unexplored by visitors until now. After several years of renovation by gardeners, the area will be officially unveiled by naturalist and broadcaster Iolo Williams between 11am and midday on Tuesday, April 11.
Join the celebrations starting with a barbecue at the Old Mill, then walk up Furnace Hill where you can take a guided tour of the meadow and wood on one of our special trails, have a go at woodturning and other activities, or just amble and enjoy this area, which is bursting with special plants and wildlife.
During holidays we’ll have a host of activities every day for families, from April 1 to 23, including Bug Bingo, Teddy Bear Trails, Pond Dipping, Storytelling, and of course the Cadbury Egg Hunt on Easter Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday. Kids can make more than a dent in their #50Things checklist too, with a garden full of opportunities to walk barefoot, play Pooh Sticks and many other simple outdoor pleasures.
All events are free of charge (normal garden admission applies and egg hunt costs £2 per trail)) and you don’t need to book in advance. On April 21 there will be a special chance to explore the garden at night on an evening Bat Walk, from 8-10pm. This event costs £4 and is usually popular, so call 01492 650460 to book a place.
Of course there’s also 80 acres of world-class garden to explore together. Take in swathes of daffodils in the Old Park meadow, magnolia trees breaking into flower, scented shrubs like viburnums blossoming and bulb displays of tulips and iris filling herbaceous beds. When you need to refuel (and relax) there’s hearty refreshment available at our two tearooms, al fresco dining at our Dell and Far End kiosks, and plenty of picnic areas around the garden.
We hope you'll join us at Bodnant Garden this Easter time. Your support helps us look after the garden and all our special places, For Ever For Everyone.
