School children try on medieval armour at Chirk Castle

With over 700 years of history, Chirk Castle is a fantastic location for your school visit. From the medieval Adam tower and the magnificent State Rooms in the castle, to the beautiful gardens and surrounding estate there’s plenty to see and lots to explore.

Guided visits

We run guided school visits from March to the end of October (excluding school holidays) for primary school pupils on the themes of 'Castles' or 'Tudors'.

Activities

Travel back in time with us as we find out what life was like in a castle hundreds of years ago. We have a fantastic team of volunteer costumed guides who will bring the castle to life for your group. There are a range of activities for you to choose from allowing you to tailor your experience at Chirk Castle to your group’s learning requirements.

Costs

Full-day of guided activities: £6 per pupil with EGM*

Half-day of guided activities: £4 per pupil with EGM*

Education Group Membership (EGM) is available to not-for-profit education groups whose members, pupils or students are in full-time education. You can take out membership before your visit or purchase it on the day. Click here for more information.

*Groups without EGM will have to pay group admission to the castle in addition to the cost of the activities.

" Our favourite things were dressing up, trying on the armour and going down to the dungeons. We had a really fun day!"
