Visiting Dunham Massey with your dog
Enjoy some fantastic walks with your four-legged friend at Dunham Massey. We've over 300 acres of beautiful ancient parkland to explore and stretch your legs.
Where can my dog go?
We love dogs at Dunham Massey and they are welcome on a short lead in the deer park, gardens (from 12 noon), shop and ice cream parlour. This helps us to protect our wildlife, including ground-nesting birds, rabbits and a herd of fallow deer.
If you'd like to walk your dog off lead you can head to the North Park – ask for directions on arrival.
Deer park: 9am – 5pm
North Park: 9am – 5pm
Gardens: from 12 noon till close. (Please note this does not include the out of hours Christmas at Dunham Massey trail where assistance dogs only will be permitted.)
Where can't my dog go?
Assistance dogs only in the gardens between 10am and 12 noon.
Assistance dogs only in the house, stables and mill (all are currently closed.)
Assistance dogs only in the Stables Restaurant, Stamford Cafe.
Whilst dogs can't come into the restaurant, or cafe, they can sit outside and enjoy the views from the terrace. We offer dog water bowls on the terrace and by the clock tower near the park – perfect after a challenging walk.
What do I need to be aware of at Dunham Massey?
To make sure everyone has an enjoyable day please follow our Canine Code:
- Take the lead: help reduce the chance of your pup disturbing wildlife by keeping them on a lead.
- Scoop that poop: bag it and bin it to keep your favourite places beautiful.
- Paws for thought: look out for information signs and take extra care on cliff paths.
- Be on the ball: not everyone loves dogs, so keep them close by.
