Can I park at Dunham Massey?

Parking is available onsite and costs £7 for non-National Trust members. Parking is free for National Trust members and can be booked online in advance with a trail ticket. You’ll need to bring proof of your valid membership to show on arrival, without this you’ll be asked to pay. We strongly advise you to book your parking at the same time as purchasing your tickets. Members will be charged a transaction fee if parking is booked separately.

Is there a dedicated drop off and pick up area?

Yes, the drop offer area is next to the entrance booth in the car park.

Should I arrive in advance of my visit time?

Last entry to the light trail is 30 minutes after the last advertised trail slot, therefore you should allow time for eating, drinking and shopping before or after your time slot.

Where does the trail take place?

The illuminated trail follows a one mile loop on the paths from the Visitor Centre entrance through the garden and back.

Can I bring my dog on the trail?

Please leave furry friends at home, only guide dogs and registered assistance dogs are allowed into the garden where the majority of the trail takes place.

Is the trail covered?

No, please remember the event takes place outside in winter weather! We recommend that you wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear.

Is the trail accessible for wheelchair users?

The route is designed so that it can be viewed solely from hard-standing flat paths, some interactive elements may invite the audience on to grass where additional pedestrian matting will be provided. Dunham Massey have a small number of personal mobility vehicles (PMVs) which can be loaned, free of charge, but must be booked in advance. Please give us a ring to book one on 0161 941 1025.

Can I bring my own mobility scooter?

Yes.

I am visiting Dunham Massey during the day. Will I have to leave the garden before entering Christmas at Dunham Massey in the evening?

Yes, to ensure that only ticket holders for Christmas at Dunham Massey have entry to the evening event, daytime visitors must leave the garden at the normal closing time. You can always head to the Visitor Centre in the meantime where refreshments will still be available.

Can I buy food and drink?

Yes, you will be able to purchase refreshments at the café in the Visitor Centre. In addition, there will be a number of food and drink chalets serving seasonal hand-held food with options for younger visitors. Treat yourself to hot chocolate, mulled wine and roasted chestnuts and toast marshmallows at one of the purpose-built fire pits.

Will the shop be open?

Yes, you’ll be able to complete your Christmas shopping at the shop in the Visitor Centre until 10pm.

Can I come to the Dunham Massey shop in the evening without a Christmas at Dunham Massey ticket?

Yes, the shop is open to all visitors until 10pm. If you arrive after 4pm you’ll need to purchase a car parking ticket on arrival.

Are there toilets on the trail?

You’ll find toilets situated at the Visitor Centre (approximately 0.4 miles from furthest point on the trail) and also at the stable courtyard (approximately 0.3 miles from furthest point on the trail). There are accessible toilets at all of these locations. There are no additional toilet facilities on the garden section of the trail itself.

If I am delayed and miss my slot can I join a later slot?

Yes, we will accommodate late arrivals on the next available slot, but please be aware of the last entry time for ticket holders which is 30 minutes after the last advertised trail slot.

I have booked the wrong date. Can I transfer my ticket to another date?

Unfortunately not- we have tried to make it very clear on the website and at the point of booking that you need to make sure that you have chosen the right date and time slot at the time of making your booking as we are not able to offer exchanges or refunds once tickets have been purchased.

I have lost my ticket, what can I do?

Unfortunately, Dunham Massey, Raymond Gabbay Ltd. and its ticketing partner See Tickets are unable to offer refunds or duplicates for lost or unwanted tickets.

Is my ticket for Christmas at Dunham Massey valid for entry during the day time?

No, your ticket for Christmas at Dunham Massey only gives you access to the trail at the specified time.

What will happen if the weather is bad? Will the trail be cancelled?

If bad weather means we have to cancel the event as it is unsafe for it go ahead, ticket holders will be offered an alternative date or time. Any decision taken to cancel the event will be made at 2pm on the day and you’ll be notified by email with details of how to reschedule. We’d recommend keeping an eye on the Dunham Massey website for the latest updates.
