Half term at Dunster Castle

The May half term is filled with family fun at Dunster Castle. Plans for May half term 2020 are still being finalised, but in the meantime here are the details from May 2019, with Victorian Falconry demonstrations, special tours and more.

Dunster Uncovered 

26, 27 May, 2, 3 June 2019, 11.15am, 12.15, 1.45, 2.45pm

Take a peek behind closed doors and discover parts of the castle you won't have seen before on this 45 minute tour. Tours are run throughout the day and are not pre-bookable.


Victorian Falconry 

30 May - 1 June 2019, 11am - 4pm
Visit the Victorian Hawk House where a variety of hawks, owls and falcons can be seen at roost, chat to the period-costumed falconers and meet Bella the working dog. Every display is different and some require help from lucky hand-picked volunteers.


Please note that flying displays are weather dependent, if rain prevents flying an interactive talk will be held instead

Have-a-go-archery:

27 - 29 May 2019, 2, 3 June, 11am -4pm

Have a go at archery on Green Court. Pistol shooting will be available on selected dates as well.

£4 for 8 arrows. Normal admission applies


Get hands on: The weeds are coming!

2 & 3 June 2019, sessions are 11am - 1pm and 2 - 4pm.

The spring planting has faded but summer foliage is yet to arrive and the weeds are making the most of this gap, growing quickly and ruining the presentation of the boarders!


Join the Garden team between 11am-1pm or 2pm-4pm and get your green fingers dirty. All equipment, soft drinks and cake will provided.
