Calling all litter heroes for Erddig Big Spring Clean
Help keep our 1,200-acre estate clean and tidy by joining us for Spring Clean Cymru at Erddig on 16 April 2019.
We’re working with our partners Keep Wales Tidy and Wrexham County Borough Council and we need to find #LitterHeroes to clean our nature-rich oasis on the edge of Wrexham town.
Spring Clean Cymru is a fantastic way to get some exercise outdoors, meet new people and make a difference to our parkland. So if you love the countryside, hate litter and have got a few hours spare on Tuesday 16 April, then we’d love to see you at 10:30am!
Spring Clean Cymru (22 March – 23 April) is part of the Great British Spring Clean. In 2018, around 370,00 #LitterHeroes joined forces – despite the Beast from the East – to collect litter at 13,500 events across the UK.
This year’s campaign will not only see tonnes of litter being removed from the environment on our doorstep, it also aims to rescue thousands of the plastic bottles and aluminium drinks cans that are simply thrown on the ground but could, very easily, be recycled.
Katie Rees-Jones, Volunteer and Community Involvement Officer at Erddig said:
“With 1,200 acres of beautiful parkland, a range of habitats and countryside walks, we offer a wealth of hidden treasures for the local community to enjoy. Litter is an ongoing challenge for our estate team and this event will make a huge difference and hopefully be a lot of fun too!”
Lesley Jones Keep Wales Tidy Chief Executive said: “The value of a good quality environment can’t be underestimated. It not only affects the look and feel of a place but has a significant and far-reaching impact on wildlife, our health and wellbeing and the local economy.”
