Walking at Hardcastle Crags

From walks along the riverside to hikes into the wider valley, there are lots of walking routes to explore on a visit to Hardcastle Crags.
Hardcastle Crags is made up of over 400 acres of countryside, with tumbling streams, grassy meadows and towering trees. At the heart of the valley you’ll find Gibson Mill, a former 19th century cotton mill which now houses the Weaving Shed Café - the perfect place to relax after a stroll in the fresh air.
With over 15 miles of footpaths to explore, this valley is a walker’s paradise. Grab your walking boots, and choose one of our popular way marked trails to enjoy an adventure in the woods.
To help you plan your walk, take a look at the routes below or take a photo of the map in the welcome hut on your visit, to use as you head out into the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.
All of the below routes can be enjoyed from both car parks, and picked up from Gibson Mill too.
