Perfect picnic spots

Ickworth has plenty of spots to enjoy a picnic, head down to the walled garden with shaded spot in the Earls summer house or on the grass with beautiful views across the lake. Our other favourite spots include the North Lawn with beautiful blooms in the north border or a take cover in the temple amongst the trees in the Italianate Garden.

The Albana Walk is a circular walk through some of the ancient woodlands in the park, it is perfect to escape the sun and let the kids run wild. With a den building area and trim trail there’s still plenty of fun to be had away from the sun’s rays.

Stay Refreshed!

You cannot go without ice cream on a hot summers day! We have tubs of ice cream and ice lollies in our shop and West Wing Café and locally made scooping Gelato available at Porter’s Lodge café. Along with plenty of cold drinks on hand to keep you cool.

Cool off in the house

The servant’s quarters is the perfect place to explore to get out of the sun; take a break below stairs and imagine life as it was in the 1930’s. Head upstairs and feel the benefit of the magnificent high ceilings in the rotunda and keep cool while you discover the treasures held within.

Dont forget to stay safe in the sunshine throughout your day. Stay hydrated with plenty of drinks throughout the day, small amounts and often is best. Remember to pack your suncream and a hat to protect yourselves from the sun.
