Enjoy the sunshine at Ickworth Estate

What better way to enjoy a warm summer's day than a lovely trip to Ickworth. Here are some top tips to make the most of the weather while staying cool and refreshed!
Our top picnic spots
- The North Lawn. The wide expanse of flat lawn and lush meadows in front of the Rotunda are perfect for that summer lunchtime picnic. Admire the North Lawn border with all its seasonal colour complete with the backdrop of the iconic Ickworth Rotunda.
- The Adventure Play Area. Located just off the car park, there are picnic benches for you to use whilst the kids let off some steam.
- The Walled Garden. This large enclosed area is found just past the church. Sheltered from the wind, the Earl's Summerhouse (currently closed for renovation) can be found here and has lovely views across the lake and to the parkland beyond. Sorry, no dogs allowed.
- The Italianate Garden. Found around the back of the house, these beautiful gardens and lawns have plenty of hidden spots for a picnic.
- Walnut Paddock. Sited to the side of the house, not far from Porter's Lodge, there are plenty of trees to find a shady spot to sit under on a hot day.
- Chevington Field Plantation and Monument Meadow. These two spots are found on the Monument Trail and require a walk or a cycle to get to as they are over on the otherside of the estate. Both provide stunning views over the parkland and of the Rotunda nestled amongst the trees in the distance. You can hire a bike from us and cycle through ancient trees and meadows to these spots.
Dont forget to stay safe in the sunshine throughout your day. Stay hydrated with plenty of drinks throughout the day, small amounts and often is best. Remember to pack your suncream and a hat to protect yourselves from the sun.
