Daffodils

Something for everyone this Spring

It's time to come out of hibernation and seek inspiration, as newly emerging life springs up across the Sizergh estate, and untold histories await you in the house.

The artroom at Allan Bank in Grasmere in the Lake District

Allan Bank

Possibly the most relaxed National Trust place we know. Call in with every family member, including the dog, for an afternoon of picnicking inside, making your own cuppa, board games and crafts. If the weather’s kind, laze in a deckchair with views overlooking Grasmere.

Count sheep and hunt for bugs

Follow a trail and learn to speak (and count sheep) like a Cumbrian. Dress up, play games, write with a quill, create natural art, discover bugs and bees in the garden, and get tips on how to turn an ordinary backyard into a nature haven.

Rainy days at Wray Castle

With plenty of rooms to be enjoyed on rainy days, Wray Castle is the perfect place for a family day out if you'd rather be indoors. Dress up, build a castle and let your imagination run wild.

Family and dogs walking in Stonethwaite, Borrowdale

Make the most of Borrowdale

We've got loads of car parks around Derwent Water and Borrowdale. If you want to take a family of little legs between a few different places and viewpoints, just buy one ticket and re-use it at National Trust car parks across Borrowdale until it expires. National Trust members park for free.

Watersports

An outdoor festival at Fell Foot

Head down to Fell Foot on 18-19 May for a celebration of watersports and outdoor activities on the shores of England's most iconic lake. It's a perfect opportunity for the family to get on the water together.

Pods and pubs in Langdale

We've a ready made holiday here in Langdale. Our campsite offers traditional tents or glamping. Our pub is just a stones throw away, and teens can try their hand at rock climbing or ghyll scrambling right from the campsite.
