Winter well-being at Chirk Castle
Get your 2020 off to a great start with outdoor activities on the Chirk estate, designed to help with wellness and well-being, and get you feeling fantastic. There are guided activities through January and February, or take a walks map and and explore the beautiful 480-acre estate. Please note the castle interior is closed until Saturday 7 March.
Following a bit of festive excess, January and February are great months to focus on your own wellness and well-being, to get outdoors, and reconnect with nature.
Chirk Castle's interior is closed for conservation work in January and February, but the gardens, Adam Tower, dungeon, shop and cafe are open daily and we have a beautiful 480 acre estate that is just starting to come to life through the first months of the year.
There are guided activities through the month, to help you explore the estate, connect with nature, make new friends and work on your own wellness and well-being. There is: Nordic Walking, Beginner Running, Ranger Rambles, Volunteer Guided Walks, Winter Bird ID walks, Mindfulness, Drop-in toddler play, Marshmallow toasting, and Family Bushcraft.
You can find out more about each of the activities on our website here: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/chirk-castle/whats-on
There are also three beautiful walks on the estate, so drop by the Ticket Office to pick up an estate map, or download our Janaury spotter sheet here: January 2019 Spotter Sheet (PDF / 1.376953125MB) download

Take a walk at Chirk Castle in February to see a beautiful white carpet of snowdrops - a sure sign that Spring is on the way.
From 1 February 2020, snowdrop season at Chirk Castle is our traditional way to dust off the old year and embrace the new. With a beautiful white carpet of snowdrops throughout the Pleasure Ground Wood, including some rare species, and also patches of snowdrops across the wider estate, there's plenty of space to wander and find the perfect viewpoint or photo.
Keep an eye on our Facebook page for details on the best day to visit when the snowdrops are at their peak. Chirk Castle Facebook Page.
Please note that as the Pleasure Ground Wood is attached to the formal gardens dogs are not permitted to enter.
So join us in the fresh air, and get your new year off to a great start!
Please note: the castle interior is closed during January and February. The gardens, Adam Tower, dungeon, shop and cafe are open daily. Off-peak admission prices apply due to the reduced number of spaces open. Access to the estate is free. Please see the event listing for individual event details and booking requirements for each activity.
The castle interior is open again from 7 March 2020.
