Birthday beacons for Her Majesty the Queen
Join us to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday on 21 April as we join in with the lighting of more than 1,000 beacons up and down the UK and abroad.
We’ll be lighting five beacons at 7.30pm and there will be free entry to the castle from 7-8pm. A choir will lead a rousing chorus of the National Anthem at 7.30pm.
From lunchtime onwards the tea-rooms will be serving a special Royal Tea featuring a mini scone with jam and cream, an individual Victoria sponge, a chocolate brownie, shortbread, goat’s cheese quiche, choice of sandwiches and a pot of tea.
Please note the castle will be open as normal from 10am-6pm when normal admission charges will apply – free to National Trust members.
It will close for one hour at 6pm and reopen for the birthday event at 7pm, when entry will be free.
