Peter Moore - Volunteer

What inspired me to want to start volunteering with the National Trust?

Peter Moore

When I retired I knew I wanted to do something that kept me in touch with people, as well as providing a challenge. I’ve always enjoyed seeing and learning about people and places (it was part of my job) – volunteering with the Trust ticks all the boxes.

What's the best part of Volunteering at Croome?

The friendliness of the staff and volunteers, and the team spirit. Plus, of course, the ever changing story, and that view!

What’s keeping me busy at the moment?

Two roles – conservation cleaning, in all its forms, and room guiding, especially the tours

What's my favourite part of Croome?

Sounds trite, but all of it, really.

What's my favourite story about Croome?

Lots of them, but one of the stories I like most is the tale of the lifelong relationships the 6th Earl had with Lancelot Brown and Robert Adam

What do I do when I’m not volunteering?

Walk, garden, play guitar, see family

What advice would I give anyone thinking about volunteering with the National Trust?

Just do it – you won’t regret it!
