Our Partnership with Women in Print...
As part of Women and Power, we're working with Women in Print to represent the women that don’t hang on Dunham’s walls, but have still been important in its history.
As part of the Women and Power programme, we've partnered with Women in Print, a Manchester-based project aims to celebrate the lives and achievements of women, from the north of England or who have made a significant contribution to the area, through print. Their art pieces will sit alongside our all-female picture hang in the Great Gallery.
" We’re really excited to have the artists give a voice to some of our fascinating women. One of my favourite women is Mary Oldbury, Mary Booth’s mother. Her dowry paid for the House that stands today but she’s completely absent from our history because she didn’t get on with her husband!"
The collection will feature work by five outstanding artists working in the north of England including Helen Musselwhite, Lucy Ketchin, Nell Smith, Joanna Houghton and Deanna Halsall. Each artist has chosen a woman who doesn't appear on our walls, but is still important in our history.
