Winter at Dunster Castle and Watermill
With the parkland, car park, shop and tearoom open everyday, there's lots to explore at Dunster this winter. From admiring the wide-reaching views on a bracing walk to enjoying a warming cuppa in the refurbished tearoom, there's something for everyone.
The parkland, car park, shop, and tearoom are open every day 10am-4pm, with the car park locked at 5pm. The castle and gardens are open at weekends and during school holidays (19 - 27 February) from 10am, with last entry to the gardens at 3pm and last admission to the castle 2.45pm.
Dunster Castle is the perfect base for exploring the stunning scenery of the local area. From a short stroll to take in the pretty medieval village of Dunster to the stunning views afforded at the top of the more strenuous Bats Castle walk, there are walks to suit all abilities. The car park is open every day from 10am-5pm, leaving you plenty of time for a bracing wander through nature- and why not reward yourself with a warming drink and slice of homemade cake from the tearoom at the end of your walk?
Please note- planned work to the main entrance gates will mean that there is no access to our car park from Monday 17 - Wednesday 19 January. Visitors can park in the Dunster Steep village car park (charges apply) to access the parkland, shop and tearoom.
Food and drink
Come and refuel in our newly-refurbished tearoom, where you can enjoy light lunches, an array of snacks, cakes, hot and cold drinks and ice cream. Situated by the River Avill, the tearoom is a peaceful spot for a bit of refreshment, whether you've just finished a walk or are catching up with friends.
The National Trust shop is stocked with goodies, including beautiful gifts to foods, cards, calendars, gardening equipment, children's toys and games, plants and lots of books. Located in Dunster's atmospheric stable block, the shop is open daily with something for everyone.
